Kyneton: A Book Lover’s Haven

book shop kyneton

Whether you love art, music, history, the great outdoors, sports or food, Kyneton delivers it all. Perhaps less known is that it is also a haven for book lovers. Kyneton is home to four book-related stores and, of course, the local library.

Squishy Minnie: This delightful bookstore specialises in books for children and young adults. They have storytime and singalong each week on a Thursday from 10.30 am. They also run a variety of other activities including meet-the-author events and book clubs.

Aesop’s Attic: This beautiful shop is the longest-running family-owned independent bookstore in Kyneton. Aesop’s Attic houses new, second-hand and collectable books and is an avid supporter of the local community. The owner, Clare McKenna, also instigated a book artwork creations exhibition that featured in the Kyneton Daffodil Festival.

Feathers Bookstore: This bookstore sells books with a focus on Mind Body Spirit. Their range of books covers everything from Astrology, Natural Health and Herbalism to Parenting, Psychology and Self Help. Feathers offer gift wrapping and even a cup of tea whilst you browse.

Artifact Book & Art Conservation: This store can take your treasured books that are in disrepair and restore them to their former glory. All the staffs are academically qualified conservators and members of the Australian Museums and Galleries Association so you know your books are in good hands.

Kyneton Library: This library is the oldest continuously operating library outside of the State Library of Victoria. It houses a local history collection and is part of the Goldfields Library group. Kyneton Library runs dedicated storytimes each week for babies, toddlers and preschool children as well as a variety of other activities.

With so many amazing bookstores to choose from, you know your passion for turning a page will be well supported in Kyneton.
