Whilst things are quieter during this strange period, there are still a few events going ahead in the Macedon Ranges over the next few weeks. Interestingly, they are all sessions which would benefit our mental wellbeing.
On Monday 27 July there is a Lost Wax Silver Ring Workshop in Kyneton. This class is run over two half day classes where attendees will learn how to carve and shape wax to create their own unique ring. Working with wax is said to be therapeutic, something we could all make the most of during this uncertain time. Graduates from this class can apply the skills they have learnt to create other types of jewellery, and some have even created objects to sell. Bookings are essential and if you cannot make the other half day session, there is the option to complete the second part of the class at a later date.
A little further away in Woodend this Sunday 26 July, Rachael Gibson of Heart of the Horse is facilitating a mindfulness workshop. The session involves sitting around the campfire, meditating and sipping chai in the presence of horses. Participants will tune into their bodies, ground themselves and reflect on their modern lives. They will have time to interact with the horses and tap into their calm. The workshop is open to locals, not those in the lockdown areas. Be sure to book to reserve your place. Sessions for individuals and families are also available from Thursdays to Saturdays.
Finally, the Tugurium Gardens are opening in Macedon this weekend from 10 am to 4 pm. What could be better than enjoying the crisp mountain air whilst enjoying the beauty of a winter garden? Whilst payment at the gate is accepted, people are encouraged to book in advance as there are COVID safe restrictions in place. This means there will only be a specific amount of people allowed in the garden for a certain time period. People are also asked to maintain social distance and not attend if they are unwell.
